Wellness Empowerment: Healing From the Inside Out

“Why do I have to change who I am to get well?”

“Wellness is the absence of dis-ease-physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It encompasses the total health of the person.” The body’s ability to self-regulate and heal itself, is one of the reasons Dr. Juneau Robbins became a chiropractor.

Originally from Toronto, Canada, Dr. Robbins has been in private chiropractic practice in Minneapolis for the past 19 years. As the owner of multiple clinics, he is a strong advocate of wellness-empowerment through personal accountability. He is the recipient of several professional honors, including the President's Choice and Chiropractor of the Year awards from the American Black Chiropractic Association.

Chiropractic is holistic healthcare-free of drugs or surgery-believing in the body's ability to heal itself by removing barriers and interferences to the body's self-healing process.

Specializing in musculo-skeletal injuries and pain affecting the muscles, joints, and nerves, Robbins describes the majority of his patients as ‘weekend-warriors’ who over-do it with chores like shoveling, etc. He also treats high-school athletes with ankle or spine strains, people involved in car or workplace accidents, or individuals with the routine aches and pains of growing older. Robbins’ kid-glove approach to patient care has earned him the trust and adoration of his patients-many who’ve come to him since first opening his practice in 1997.

“True wellness focuses more on prevention versus reactionary measures to control disease already underway.” says Dr. Robbins. “When disease is already present, a wellness philosophy and approach will identify and address the cause of dis-ease, attempt to correct it, and let the body heal itself.” Robbins also provides nutrition counseling and supplements to support healthy living.

A shared vision of promoting preventative community wellness-empowerment led to the creation of Robbins Urban Wellness Retreat with his wife, Anika. The integrated wellness center is home to Cultural Chiropractic and The ANIKA Foundation. The center offers ongoing classes and events on health & wellness, in addition to expanded services including beauty, chiropractic treatments and massage. Today, Dr. Robbins promotes “The Power of One”. Replacing one negative lifestyle habit with a positive habit every 8 weeks. In one year you will have let go of 6 bad habits, and replaced them with 6 good habits. “This kind of lifestyle change is a game changer,” he says. “Adding years to your life and life to your years!”
