Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are also known as sexually transmitted infections
(STIs). These are infections caused by viruses, bacteria, or parasites that are spread
through sexual activity, specifically anal, vaginal, and oral sex, and sometimes skin-to-
skin genital contact with someone who has an infection.

What Are the Risk Factors?

What Are the Symptoms?

  • The most common symptom is NO SYMPTOM! Get tested

  • An unusual discharge from the vagina, penis or anus

  • Pain when peeing

  • Lumps or skin growths around the genitals or bottom (anus)

  • A rash

  • Unusual vaginal bleeding

  • Itchy genitals or anus

  • Blisters and sores around your genitals or anus

  • Warts around your genitals or anus

Prevention Tips

  • Get tested. Get treated. Know your status

  • Vaccination. Vaccines are safe, effective, and recommended ways to prevent hepatitis, HPV, and mpox

  • Reduce Number of Sex Partners

  • Mutual Monogamy

  • Use Condoms
